Reiki: The Unlimited Supply of Healing Energy

At 3 months old, my first child, Gabriel, was diagnosed with a rare liver disease and had his first of many surgeries.  Although doctors tried to save his liver, they could not, and Gabe underwent a liver transplant. Karen, his mother, was chosen as the donor.  She and Gabe went into surgery when Gabe was 10½ months old.

Just before the transplant, I was introduced to Reiki having only been told that “it’s good for healing.”  I used it the day after transplant and was amazed at how it helped Gabe and Karen heal faster than expected.  Today, Gabe continues to grow and thrive. This initial using of Reiki prompted me to learn more and was subsequently trained in traditional and non-traditional Reiki.

What is Reiki?

It is an unlimited supply of energy that is continually all around us and everything on the planet.  When one is “tapped” into Reiki, this energy can be used for healing and enhancing the quality of one’s life. The energy has been found to be beneficial in treating the “whole” person.  It can be either powerful or gentle depending on the need and it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury. It will work on all aspects of the body including the physical body, emotional, mental and even spiritual.

Can anyone do Reiki?

In a word, yes.  Since it is not dependent on anything, it is available to everyone.  It has been successful for millions of people of all ages and backgrounds.  It is also very easy to learn and do. After just the first class, you’ll have the ability to treat yourself, someone else or even an animal.

What are the concepts behind the practice?

We know that there is a “life force” within all of us and it is this that keeps us alive.  This is the “KI” part of Rei-ki. When the life force is “blocked” we experience disease, sickness, mental/emotional stress, etc.  When our life force is depleted in our bodies, we are no longer alive, i.e. death.

Reiki draws upon the universal life energy so we can apply it to specific needs.  In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.  This is not unlike the concepts and theories of acupuncture. By harnessing the energy, we replenish some of the lost energy.

Reiki can heal by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.  This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away.

Reiki is for everybody

Today, Neil continues to make Reiki a daily part of his personal life and the hope is to spread Reiki to as many people as possible.  Neil believes Reiki is for everyone and has taught hundreds of people with various professions and backgrounds. He has been honored and proud to be teaching classes continually since 1997.
