You miss the present moment when you are distracted, regretting yesterday or worried about tomorrow. Yet with practical, self-empowering tools using the breath, we can successfully counter the increasing demands of contemporary life.

During our signature Happiness Retreat, you will find out how to access the present moment and tap into your inner power and freedom — not just as a concept, but as a direct experience. This is the source of abiding happiness.

  • Reduced stress
  • Greater sense of happiness and enthusiasm
  • Less social anxiety
  • More ease in interpersonal relations

In the Happiness Retreat, you will learn to master practical techniques that can benefit you for the rest of your life. The centerpiece of the Art of Living Happiness Retreat is the Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful breathing technique that uses precise natural rhythms to get you unstuck. You will also learn a form of this practice that you can continue at home for further growth.

Happiness Retreat

“I’m much more optimistic about my future. I feel that I’m not alone. I feel happier, more energetic and just better all around. I just feel fulfilled.”
– Valerie S.

“As for the Happiness retreat itself… Words cannot describe it. Literally. I arrived with 25 strangers and left with a deep love of each one of them in their own unique and special way. I was moved to tears, I laughed, I smiled, I worked, I relaxed more deeply than I thought humanly possible. If you are here reading this, then run (don’t walk) to the program nearest you and let the next beautiful chapter of your life begin.”
– FullPack, TripAdvisor.

“I’ve learned from the course to be happy exactly where I’m at at this point in time. I can feel the lightness and the shine in myself – just free and calm.
– Vera P.

“The breathing techniques that I learned, particularly the Kriya, I found very calming and very relaxing and something I hope to incorporate into my daily life.”
– John S.

These are just a few of the many transformative experiences that people have had in the program. The Happiness Retreat offers not just a comfortable weekend, but a chance for emotional release and inner peace. What you need is only a willingness to explore new things and an open mind.

Overview

Emotional Well-Being for Skeptics and Seekers
Happiness doesn’t have to be a fleeting emotion. Through this workshop, attendees will learn how to reduce their stress and anxiety levels as they become positive forces within their own lives. Fostering creativity, building resilience, and achieving life long goals are just a few of the benefits that can be achieved when happiness is embraced. This nurturing program will help participants find the internal strength that they need to overcome major life challenges.

Life is filled with unexpected highs and lows. Learning how to emotionally handle these fluctuations is an important step towards taking back control of your life. During this program, participants will learn how an out-of-the-box approach to mindfulness can bring about positive emotional change. Guided activities and a journey inwards will help participants to:

  • Understand how happiness directly impacts their life on a daily basis.
  • Respond to life’s unexpected curve balls.
  • Increase self-awareness by discovering the impact of conscious choice.
  • Flip the table on challenges by turning them into opportunities.
  • Learn how to bring joy, compassion, contentment, and happiness into a daily routine.
  • Promote the cycle of self-healing by harvesting moments of true happiness.

Through film, music, story telling, and movement participants will rediscover what it means to live their lives from a place of contentment. Fears, social anxiety, and stress can slip away when obstacles are transformed into positive opportunities. Rediscover what it means to say “yes” to joy and “goodbye” to negative emotions by creating a stable environment that focuses on personal happiness.

Overview

Rest in your Infinite Nature
What could be better than an annual silence retreat?
Perhaps a silence retreat in an awesome setting of natural silence, incredible beauty and peace…
The Art of Living Silence Retreat in Boone, offered for a minimum of two and a half days, provides optimal conditions for going deep within, quieting our mental chatter, and experiencing profound rest and inner silence. This course builds upon the Sudarshan Kriya® breathing technique offered in the Art of Living Happiness Program.
The practice of silence – of consciously withdrawing our energy and attention from outer distractions – has been used in different traditions throughout time as a pathway to physical, mental, and spiritual renewal. By participating in various course processes specifically designed to take us beyond our usually active minds, we experience an extraordinary sense of peace and renewed vitality that we carry home with us and into daily lives.
You will also have time to explore the grounds of the center and the surrounding mountain pathways.

Experiences

“Every moment doing the advance course was a new experience for me: the meditation and the silence.”

— Nita R

” I cannot directly pin point it, but definitely there is a big change from before and after going to the part-2 course. I feel I have become a new person, so I say that the part-2 course has been the starting point of my new self. The new me is very comfortable. I feel blessed and very happy. Actually, I feel very lucky to come across a course like this. Thank you for giving such an opportunity.”

Meditation Retreat

By AOLRC
May 4, 2018

Calm the Mind, Effortlessly

Have you ever wondered what prevents each of us from living each moment fully and with joy? Often, we may feel that the mind is just too busy, too tired or too overwhelmed by thoughts. However, a simple, powerful technique of meditation can quickly calm the mind. Even if you feel like you cannot meditate or are often overwhelmed by your “monkey mind”, millions of meditators have found it is possible to experience a calm and centered mind on a regular basis.

Truthfully, anyone can learn to meditate. The key to success is a powerful technique, experienced guidance and some practice. In the Meditation Retreat, you are offered all this — you work personally with an experienced teacher, learn a technique you can practice at home, and receive individual guidance during the critical first few days of practice. After the retreat, you will have the knowledge and experience to calm your mind and launch a lifelong practice.

  • Access deep rest and greater energy effortlessly on a regular basis
  • Tap into greater creativity and intuition
  • Experience a calm and centered state of mind in the midst of your daily routine and responsibilities
  • Explore your potential for inner peace

This is the experience of Sahaj Samadhi, an ancient tradition of meditation and wisdom.

Experiences

“It brought me to what I called an inevitable meditative state that I haven’t been able to achieve trying to meditate on my own, by reading books and listening to guided meditations. It was more meaningful, more helpful, more profound than I expected.”
— Jack H., Teacher

“I tried many meditation techniques over six years before coming to this practice. This technique has made all the difference. The impact is immediate, and the practice is enjoyable and doesn’t take a lot of time. It’s exactly what I needed.”
— Sean K., Writer

“After taking the course I feel an overall improvement in my energy although I sleep much less than I used to. I’m also more present for the everyday moments of my life and in my relationships with friends and family. I find that I’ve become a lot calmer and less reactive to events that would have bothered me before and have even noticed an increase in my creativity.”
— Raphael T., Branding and Marketing

Personal Guidance and Ongoing Support

The Meditation Retreat begins on Friday evening with personal instruction from a certified teacher. Many people have found that learning in person makes a huge difference over learning online, due to the experiential nature of meditation. Over the next few days, you’ll enjoy interactive sessions with plenty of time to ask questions and practice. After the weekend, your teacher will continue to be available to answer your questions about your practice, even after the course!

A Practice to Enjoy

This meditation is effortless and enjoyable both to learn and practice. The technique can be learned by anyone, does not involve a change in belief or lifestyle and does not require that you have a naturally quiet or focused mind. During the practice, both mind and body relax into a state of deep and profound rest in which stress dissolves and inner peace unfolds.

A Retreat in the Mountains

During your stay, you have time for personal R & R also. Whether you want to explore forest trails, enjoy a free pottery class, release stress with a spa therapy or bask in the fresh mountain air, the choice is yours.

Make Your Retreat Extra Special

Combine your retreat with authentic Ayurveda for rejuvenation on all levels, body, mind and spirit. The recommended Ayurveda treatment for this retreat is a Shirodhara Relaxation Therapy (“Shiro” for short).
