What is Panchakarma? Exploring Ancient, Natural Detox

What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma (PK) is a Sanskrit word that means “five actions” or “five treatments”.  The PK program is a series of ancient health-boosting treatments that cleanse body of toxins, increase vitality, and restore inner-balance and wellbeing.

According to Ayurvedic principles, our natural state is one of health and happiness.  In our natural state, the body is free of toxins, the mind is relaxed, the emotions are balanced, and wastes and pollutants are easily expelled from the system.  However, in the hectic, modern world, stress and other toxins tend to accumulate and cause a deterioration in our physical, mental, and emotional health.

Toxins can build up due to stress, improper diet, lack of exercise, environmental pollution and countless other factors.  As the toxins increase, our health declines.  This happens gradually, over the course of years.  For many of us, by the time we are 40, we have become accustomed to high levels of stress, emotional turmoil, backaches, headaches, lack of energy, negative attitudes and many other detriments to our happiness.  These ailments normally decrease or disappear entirely once the excess toxins have been cleared from the system.  PK systematically cleanses the entire system and quickly reverses the degenerative process.  Its effects are often profound and long lasting.
