Leave behind the routines of everyday life to relax and rejuvenate in the peaceful mountains of North Carolina. Enjoy workshops, yoga classes, and guided meditations to fill you with confidence and self-love, and create clear, inspired intentions for the year ahead. With plenty of time for connection and conversation around the bonfire, and free time to reconnect within.

During the retreat you can:

  • Restore and rejuvenate through daily yoga and movement classes, and guided meditation practices to soothe your soul and ignite your enthusiasm for the new year
  • Hike in the beauty of the ancient mountains, try a meditative walk around the labyrinth or simply unwind with a book whilst admiring the vastness of the mountain range
  • Nourish your body and soul with fresh Ayurvedic meals
  • Treat yourself to an Ayurvedic spa treatment or pottery class on-site
  • Try belly dancing, drawing, group discussion and one-on-one sharing to draw out your inner creativity
  • Participate in group ceremonies and workshops to inspire your heart and set intentions for 2019

You will return home with a deeper sense of direction, confidence, and self-love. With a completed workbook with your vision statement and goals for 2019; a self-designed prayer flag; and a little something to keep you inspired throughout the year!

Biography ImageSara Cain-da Costa E-RYT 500 is a health coach and the owner of Synergy Yoga Rock Hill, SC. She has been teaching yoga for nearly two decades and is the creator and leader of Synergy’s Life Inspired yoga teacher training. Following a dedicated yoga practice founded on a personal understanding of the power of yoga to heal, Sara qualified to teach specialty populations and now teaches yoga to veterans, athletes, and those within mental health. She has also worked with Fortune 500 corporations, sports teams and children’s education to create yoga programming.

Becca Bond RYT 200 discovered yoga at the age of 15 and has been teaching since 2015. She considers herself a student for life, and through the traditions of yoga brings great depth to her teaching. Becca is also inspired to live the wisdom of yoga off the mat and in her daily life. With her commitment to the practice, Becca infuses heart and intuition into her intentional flow classes.

Together, Sara and Becca teach with positivity and kindness, encouraging students to develop a sense of calm in any posture.

7:30 pm –  9:00 pm – Evening Session with Introductions, Creating Sacred Space, Prayer Flag creation and string together, Slow Flow/Restorative practice with Yoga Nidra


7:15 am – 8:00 am – Simple Awakening: Morning Meditation & Gentle Flow *optional

8:00 am – 9:00 am – Breakfast

9:30 am-12:30 pm – Program Session: Heart Opening Vinyasa Yoga practice and Who Are You activity

12:30 pm-2:00 pm Lunch

2:00 pm-3:30 pm – Program session: Releasing the Masks activity

3:30 pm-7:30 pm Free Time*

6:00 pm-7:30 pm – Dinner

7:30 pm-8:15 pm – Kirtan: Meditative Chant *optional

8:30 pm-9:30 pm – Bonfire (weather permitting) Burning of the Masks

9:30 am-12:30 pm – Program Session Strong Fire Burning and 1st,2nd,3rd Chakra and discussion on Law of Attraction

12:30 pm-2:00 pm Lunch

2:00 pm-3:30 pm – Program session: Identifying Your Gifts and Talents and create a vision statement for the year

3:30 pm-7:30 pm Free Time

6:00 pm-7:30 pm – Dinner

7:30 pm – 9:00 pm – Belly dance or 5 Rhythms Dance and Meditation

Monday Departure day:

7:15 am – 8:00 am – Simple Awakening: Morning Meditation & Gentle Flow *optional

8:00 am – 9:00 am – Breakfast
9:00 am -11:00 am – Program Session Soul Flow, Write Letter to Self, Compliment activity

11:00 am – Check-out (luggage may be stored at reception)

12:00 pm – Lunch is included in your stay this day!

We invite you to also make reservations at our award-winning Shankara Ayurveda Spa before arrival, in order to ensure availability. Please call (828) 264-8382 for details.

Our Clay Studio is open Thu-Sun; Hand-building classes and Throwing classes are available by appt. Clay pieces can be glazed and shipped back as well. Please contact our front desk to make an appointment.

*If a spa appointment is made during a Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner, guests may request a meal to be boxed for
pickup by asking spa reception.

A warning about using GPS!

We do not recommend using your GPS for driving directions, as many roads are incorrectly marked in the navigation system and inputting our address will take you on a wild ride. Instead, we recommend using Google maps (above). Many prefer to travel the Blue Ridge Parkway route only May through October since the road closes often in winter.

Nearest Airport

There are several airports within driving distance from the Art of Living Retreat Center:
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, NC (100 miles).
Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) in Johnson City, TN (80 miles)
Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) in Greensboro, NC (110 miles)


The Hickory Hop shuttle goes from Charlotte airport to Boone five times daily. The cost is $90 per person. Please mention you are going to the Art of Living Retreat Center in Boone. Reservations are required, so please book ahead by contacting them directly. (828) 327-2340

Car Rental

Enterprise, Avis, Alamo, Hertz, National and Budget all offer car rentals at Charlotte airport. Please contact the rental company directly for pricing.
Uber: Uber has arrived in Boone. It is often possible to take an Uber from Charlotte airport all the way to the center’s reception. This is a very cost-effective option when traveling with friends or family.

Public Bus

The Mountaineer Express goes from Boone to Charlotte at 9:25am and from Charlotte to Boone at 6pm daily. Please check their schedule for current timings. To reach the Charlotte bus stop, you can take the Cat5 airport express. Once you arrive in Boone, you can take an Uber to the center.
