Neuroscience and genetic research has finally discovered what ancient societies have known for thousands of years – the human system is pre-programmed with powerful self-healing mechanisms.

We now know that methods including Tai Chi, Yoga, Qigong and Mindfulness can enhance these natural mechanisms to support optimal health.

This retreat offers a fun and lighthearted introduction to Qigong and Tai Chi, to equip you with a whole new set of ideas and methodologies that will serve you for the rest of your life.

You will be guided through five days of accessible and awakening practices, including:

  • Healer Within Qigong — accessible Qigong for self-healing
  • Tai Chi Easy — simple yet powerfully healing Tai Chi
  • Qigong Medicine Wheel — Qi infused marrow bathing
  • Connective Tissue Transforming — practices to alter muscular fabric
  • Seven Precious Gesture — to enter the Temple of the True Self
  • Cancer Recovery Walking Qigong

You will go home with a new ability to incorporate these extraordinary practices into your daily life and a personal Qigong and Tai Chi practice to transform imbalances in your body, mind and spirit.

Parts of this program have received CE for California Board of Registered Nursing.

This program is open to all levels and may be of particular interest to helping professionals including nurses, fitness trainers and yoga teachers.

Roger Jahnke, OMD

Roger Jahnke, OMD, has dedicated his life to sharing the powerful holistic healing traditions of China. Author of The Healer Within and The Healing Promise of Qi and the director of the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC), He has practiced Tai Chi, Qigong and Chinese medicine for more than 40 years, and is renowned for the clarity, compassion, humor, and depth of his teaching style. Dr. Jahnke has led 10 Qigong study tours, visiting hospitals, training centers, temples, and sacred sites in China, focusing on the cultivation of Qi for vitality and inner peace. Dr. Jahnke and colleagues at the IIQTC have contributed to the research evidence base and have trained well over 2,000 teachers and practice leaders internationally. We hope you enjoy your stay with us at the Art of Living Retreat Center. While here, we invite you to immerse in the quiet peace of the Blue Ridge Mountains and connect with yourself. Apart from the activities in your program schedule, there are also opportunities to join daily yoga and meditation classes, restorative Ayurvedic spa treatments, guided hiking trails, pottery classes, evening Kirtans, the outdoor labyrinth or the weekly Bonfire. For room reservations, spa retreats, and Art of Living Retreat Center (AOLRC) signature retreats, we have the following cancellation policy:

  • Refunds are available (less a $50 processing fee) up to eight days before your program or stay.
  • Nonrefundable credit toward a future AOLRC program or stay (less a $50 processing fee) is available if you give notice between seven and one day(s) before your program or stay. Credit may be applied to any AOLRC program or stay for one year following date of issue.
  • No credit or refund is available if you cancel on the arrival day, if you do not show up, or if you leave an event early for any reason. No refund will be available if you attend a program and are dissatisfied with its presentation or content.  AOLRC reserves the right to cancel a program at any time. If AOLRC cancels a program, you will receive a full refund.  Some programs may have special cancellation policies; see individual workshop descriptions.  For all other retreats, please be sure to check the registration page specific to that retreat.

To encourage a healthy environment we ask that guest to not consume alcohol or meat in our public spaces, however, guests may enjoy these items in their rooms.

Our property is always smoke-free.

Yes, we ask that guests with food allergies simply inform us so we can communicate those needs to our chef. Typically, we label potential allergens such as gluten, dairy, and nuts.
