Forrest Yoga Guardian Teacher Heidi Sormaz will lead you through a transformative exploration of the Forrest Yoga system; focused on change and the release of habitual patterns.
Through Heidi’s expertise, the wisdom of modern psychology, pragmatic dharma, and Forrest Yoga are weaved together to create inner harmony and personal transformation. It’s an opportunity to find freedom in your yoga practice and unlock your mind.
Through meditation, yoga practice, and group sharing and discussion, you will:
- Discover the relationship between modern psychology, meditation, and yoga so that you can unwind the habits that keep you stuck — in your yoga practice and in your life
- Move the physical and emotional stress or trauma that has built up in your body through everyday life
- Draw the simplicity of focused attention and awareness from meditation straight into intensive, hot, and sweaty asana practice in the morning
- Release what you no longer need from your body and mind during evening sessions of deep Yin yoga
You will leave with an understanding of how to bring embodied mindfulness techniques into your asana practice and your everyday adventures.
Open to yoga practitioners of all levels, and may be of particular interest to yoga teachers.
Heidi Sormaz, PhD, E-RYT 500, is the founder and owner of Fresh Yoga in New Haven, Connecticut. A Forrest Yoga (FY) Guardian Teacher, Heidi’s classes are a unique combination of her expertise in psychology, meditation, and yoga. She currently teaches the Forrest Yoga 200 hour and advanced teacher trainings; designed and teaches the Fresh Yoga 200 hour and 300 hour teacher trainings; and has co-taught a 300 hour advanced vinyasa training with Rolf Gates. Heidi travels nationally to present workshops and trainings, and has been featured in the Yoga Journal as well as regularly live streaming classes for StudioLiveTV. She is a former university psychology professor and author of the book Performing Under Pressure.
