Filmmaker and Forest Bathing guide Sylvie Rokab will take you on a journey into the forest.
She opens the workshop with a screening of her award winning film Love The Nature, narrated by Liam Neeson; taking you on a cinematic exploration through the beauty and intimacy of our relationship with the natural world.
And then you will embark on your own experiential exploration of nature – in a supportive group setting.
As you move through the forest in the spectacular autumn landscape surrounding the Art of Living Retreat Center, you will slow right down and stress will melt away. As these forest walks continue throughout the weekend, you will:
- Cultivate a sense of presence, and explore a relationship with other beings
- Experience the healing power of nature connection, and its power to awaken creativity, inspire wonder, and spark profound realizations
- Sink into your unique experience of the benefits of nature connection, which often includes a sense of stress and confusion dissolving; heart opening and emotions surfacing; and ideas arising, ready for manifestation
- Sit in council where you will practice deep sharing and/or deep listening, to anchor insights with the help of supportive group members.
You will go home with a renewed sense of connection, meaning and purpose. The forest is the therapist and Sylvie, your guide, will open the door for you to welcome its wisdom.
While this is a very gentle practice, participants need to be in good enough physical health so that they can hike comfortably in nature, which often has uneven trails and terrains.
With the Atlantic Forest as her backyard, Sylvie Rokab was born in Rio and was heartbroken by the rapid destruction of the nature surrounding her. As a young adult she made it her mission to inspire people to deepen their connection with the natural world, and after moving to the US she became a wildlife cinematographer and filmmaker. Now an Emmy nominated filmmaker with over twenty years of experience in the industry, she continues to seek to inspire a diverse audience to transform their relationship with nature and ignite a desire to protect our vital and spellbinding natural world. She is a nature therapy guide in the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing and leads people in an embodied and sensorial exploration of wild places, as well as lecturing around the world.
