Listening Deeply is a unique program brought to you by a team of experts that integrate ancient wisdom with modern medicine. Pioneers in their respective fields, their vast collective knowledge base spans clinical psychology and cardiology, to yoga therapy and meditation.
With this combined expertise you will be guided deeply within as you explore the power of listening closely to yourself, others, and to the natural world. You will discover holistic approaches to understanding the self through traditional techniques and reflection on sacred texts, as well as perspectives from cutting-edge science.
Through mindful yoga practice, meditation, group sharing and outdoor meditative work, you will:
· Learn invaluable practices for listening deeply to your body, heart, and innate wisdom.
· Cultivate your ability to connect with others and with the environment.
· Discover the Relax Into Yoga approach. A practice informed by traditional yogic teachings that quiets your cognition and opens you to the lessons available from other people, and from the natural world.
· Begin to become aware of and listen to the abundant wisdom from subtle energies.
You will take home a sense of connection with the wisdom of listening deeply, and practices to continue your exploration beyond the retreat.

Jim Carson PhD, an Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). As a clinical psychologist, Jim applies his expertise to the development and evaluation of meditation-based treatments.
Kimberly Carson MPH C-IAYT, developed the Yoga of Awareness program with Jim at Duke University, as well as the first mindfulness program for couples and a loving-kindness meditation program for medical patients. Kimberly is a health educator and yoga therapist at OHSU and specializes in the therapeutic use of mindfulness and yoga for people with medical challenges.
Carol Krucoff C-IAYT E-RYT, is a yoga therapist at Duke Integrative Medicine. Carol is also an award-winning journalist and a founding editor of the Washington Post’s Health Section; and she has authored several books — including Yoga Sparks: 108 Easy Practices for Stress Relief in a Minute or Less.
Mitchell W. Krucoff M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.H.A., F.S.C.A.I — an interventional cardiologist and Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center, as well as Director of the Cardiovascular Devices Unit at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He is known for pioneering research in a number of areas, including complementary therapies in cardiovascular care, and has authored over 300 publications in cardiology literature.

A warning about using GPS!
We do not recommend using your GPS for driving directions, as many roads are incorrectly marked in the navigation system and inputting our address will take you on a wild ride. Instead, we recommend using Google maps (above). Many prefer to travel the Blue Ridge Parkway route only May through October since the road closes often in winter.

There are several airports within driving distance from the Art of Living Retreat Center:
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, NC (100 miles).
Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) in Johnson City, TN (80 miles)
Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) in Greensboro, NC (110 miles)
The Hickory Hop shuttle goes from Charlotte airport to Boone five times daily. The cost is $90 per person. Please mention you are going to the Art of Living Retreat Center in Boone. Reservations are required, so please book ahead by contacting them directly. (828) 327-2340
Enterprise, Avis, Alamo, Hertz, National and Budget all offer car rentals at Charlotte airport. Please contact the rental company directly for pricing.
Uber: Uber has arrived in Boone. It is often possible to take an Uber from Charlotte airport all the way to the center’s reception. This is a very cost-effective option when traveling with friends or family.
The Mountaineer Express goes from Boone to Charlotte at 9:25am and from Charlotte to Boone at 6pm daily. Please check their schedule for current timings. To reach the Charlotte bus stop, you can take the Cat5 airport express. Once you arrive in Boone, you can take an Uber to the center.
