The Living Well program is designed for medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals seeking to build a proficient practice for self-care to enrich their quality of life. This 4-day program provides time-tested techniques and tools that can help you manage your emotions, reduce stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and compassion fatigue and enhance your physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being.  Upon completion of the program, MD participants will be issued a 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ certification, and nurses will receive 20 CNE contact hours.

The course is taught over 4 days; attendance for the entire 20 hours onsite is mandatory to receive the CME certification. Participants have an option after the course to attend a 2 hour online follow up.

  • Yoga Asanas: A specific sequence of low impact, invigorating and soothing yoga postures.

  • Sudarshan Kriya® (also known as The Healing Breath Technique): This powerful breathing technique is the centerpiece of the course and uses specific, natural rhythms that facilitate the release of deep stress and harmonize the body/mind complex.
  • Sahaj Samadhi Meditation: – This ancient practice is a natural, effortless form of meditation, which allows the conscious mind to settle deeply and experience deep peace, calm and relaxation.

Course Credit

This program is approved for the following credits:

  • AMA PRA Category 1 Credits: 20 CME credits under the standards of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for MDs. MD Participants will be issued a CME certificate with 20 AMA category 1 CME credits.
  • CNE Credits – 20 Contact Hours Continuing Educational Credits for nurses under the standards of American Nurses Credentialing Center. Nurses will receive 20 CNE contact hours.

About the facilitators

Dr. Sarita Patel is a physician practicing medicine in NY City. She is the Director of Pain Management and Palliative Care Service in the department of medicine at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and is Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. This program is one of the few programs of its kind in Brooklyn whose mission is to deliver the highest quality of care to patients facing serious illness and their families. She is involved with academic training of the medical students, medical residents and research activities at her institution.
Dr. Patel is a teacher with the Art of Living Foundation, who teaches the foundation level programs including yoga, breathing techniques & meditation workshops. She has been teaching stress management and self-development programs to health care professionals, veterans & patients for more than 15 years.
She has studied Ayurveda with particular regard to pulse assessment, marma therapy and lifestyle transformation. Dr. Patel has spoken on “Spirituality & Health” “Meditation in Medicine” “Basics of Ayurveda” and such related topics in various health organizations.
Dr. Patel has been instrumental in developing the CME activities that incorporates Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation courses as offered by Art of living foundation. She also voluntarily serves as medical faculty at Art of Living Foundation, International Association of Human Values & Ved Vigyan Mahavidhyapeeth.

John OsborneJohn Osborne is the Co-Founder of Project Welcome Home Troops, a program of the International Association for Human Values, a non-profit service organization focusing on trauma relief and conflict resolution. The program teaches effective mind-body resilience techniques supported by evidence-based research that addresses the intense post-traumatic stress and moral injury impacting many returning combat veterans.
Since 1975 he has taught specialized courses in human development and executive leadership for corporate and government leaders, diplomatic and military professionals.
John Osborne is a senior member of the faculty at the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values and has lectured at the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, Intel, Google, Amazon and Microsoft, and at Harvard. He has been a speaker at Wharton Business School of University of Pennsylvania, the Anderson Business School at UCLA, and at Loyola Marymount University where he is a member of faculty. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and Yale University and is also the founder and CEO of Intermarket LLC, a venture capital firm based in Santa Monica, CA.

Shephali AgrawalShephali Agrawal is an instructor and the Director of Program Development in the South East US for Art of Living Foundation.  She started her own practice of yoga and meditation while in law school over 16 years ago.
She directed the NYC Center operations for the Foundation over the last 7 years. During her time there she taught yoga, meditation, and other self development courses in various environments including non-profit, corporate, schools, community group settings. Her focus over the last 5 years has been working with professionals on developing essential skills for effective leadership, and for living a balanced life to the fullest potential with creativity, dynamism, and centeredness.
