Niki Schemmel, SoulShine Studios Co-owner, Nia Black Belt, RYT 500, e-RYT, 200 YACEP, fell in love with dancing while choreographing routines in her living room with her friends in elementary school.
She studied jazz and modern dance as a teenager and minored in dance in college. She found yoga after college and shifted her movement attention to a hatha practice that allowed her to become aware of her body alignment and increase her strength. She also fell in love with yoga philosophy. She began teaching yoga in 2001 in Los Angeles and to this day she continues her love affair with alignment principles and heart opening yoga philosophy. Nia came into her life in 2008 and it made her movement practice complete. She finds these two practices to be the perfect marriage of precision and expression.
