Navratri, meaning nine nights, is a powerful and sacred Vedic festival to honor the Divine Feminine energy in all its forms. Just as a person spends nine months in the womb, these days are spent going inward, harmonizing the feminine forces in creation, erasing negative karma, and emerging transformed into pure love. At the Art of Living Retreat Center in Boone, this celebration is observed with deep spiritual practices, ancient rituals, soulful music, and inner silence.

The Art of Living Retreat Center, nestled in the serene Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, offers the perfect space to go inward and go on the transformative spiritual journey of Navratri.

These nights of Navratri are precious. They are enriched with subtle energy. Sixty-four impulses of the divine mother govern the subtle creation and are responsible for restoring all earthly and spiritual benefits. These impulses are contained within one’s awakened consciousness. The nine nights of Navratri are celebrated to rekindle those divine impulses and to renew the inner depth of our lives.
—Gurudev

Each day during this sacred time, we’ll observe ancient Vedic rituals known as Pujas and, on select days, powerful Homa fire ceremonies. These traditional offerings are performed to dissolve inner and outer obstacles, awaken clarity, and invite divine support on your path. Homa, in particular, is said to invoke the blessings of the Divine Mother in all her forms, strengthening your vitality, courage, and resilience while enhancing your ability to recognize the sacred in all aspects of life.

Ganapati, Navagraha, & Rudra Homas 9:00–11:00 am
Performing the Ganapati Homa invokes Lord Ganesha—the remover of obstacles—to clear hurdles, ensure success in new ventures, and attract wealth and prosperity. It is conducted to bring peace to the home, mitigate negative astrological influences (doshas), and promote overall spiritual and material well-being.

Navagraha Homa is performed to invoke the blessings of the nine planets that govern your life. The placement of the nine planets in your birth chart indicates your karma and the level of success or failure you will enjoy in your life. At times, one or more planets may be afflicted, creating stumbling blocks in your life. Performing this homa can offset the negative influence of the afflicted planets to bring about longevity, good health, wealth, and happiness.

Vastu Homa is performed to spiritually purify your living space, neutralize architectural defects, and align your home with the natural elements. By appeasing the Vastu Purusha (energy deity of the house), the sacred fire ritual invites health, peace, and prosperity while clearing negative energy and past vibrations.
