Stronger Through Midlife and Beyond

Movement, Education, and Embodiment for Every Season of Life

Jessica Valant, MSPT

Thrive in the Body You Have

Getting older doesn’t mean accepting less strength, energy, or freedom. In this empowering women’s retreat with physical therapist and women’s health expert Jessica Valant, MSPT, you’ll learn to understand your changing body and work with it rather than against it. Through approachable movement, science-backed education, and nervous system support, you’ll cut through the overwhelm surrounding women’s health and discover a simpler path toward greater strength, energy, mobility, and independence that meets you exactly where you are.

No prior fitness level is required. Movement modifications will be offered for injuries and individual needs. Participants are encouraged to consult their healthcare provider before joining movement classes.

—S.W. (Past Participant)

As a mom in my 40s, I can relate so much to Jessica's approach — gentle yet empowering, and realistic! She includes all the little things that women our age experience, and she speaks about them with such grace and understanding.

—J.W. (Past Participant)

After years of issues with my back, several injuries, and more recently, chemotherapy, surgery, osteopenia and osteoporosis, I find that I am now feeling safe in my body and confident to try things.

—W.B. (Past Participant)

Jessica's workouts cater to all levels and abilities without fear of overdoing it and they actually make my body better!

—L.L. (Past Participant)

Jessica's sensitivity to the needs of older adults is spot on. It's comforting to know that someone understands and cares. After many efforts to maintain some kind of regular exercise, I am finally able to.

To encourage a healthy environment, we ask that guests not consume alcohol or meat in our public spaces. However, guests may enjoy these items in their rooms.

Our property is always smoke-free.

Yes, we ask that guests with food allergies simply inform us so we can communicate those needs to our chef. Typically, we label potential allergens such as gluten, dairy, and nuts. You may email us at info@theartoflivingretreatcenter.kinsta.cloud.

Thanks to the cool climate of the Blue Ridge Mountains, air conditioning is rarely needed. For the occasional warm day, there is a fan in each room to help keep you comfortable.

We do have lodging and event venues that are ADA-compliant. Due to the topography of our mountain campus, some are easier to access than others, so please speak to Guest Services (800.392.6870) prior to registering to ensure we can best accommodate your needs. We also have shuttles that run frequently throughout the campus.

We are committed to the safety of our guests and staff. Our mountaintop location and the surrounding areas are spacious, remote, safe, and secure.

  • It is safe to leave your windows open—and necessary for proper airflow!
  • Nature surrounds our campus, and it’s common to see rabbits, deer, gophers, wild turkeys, and other small animals. Please give them space, and they’ll do the same for you. We’ve never had a safety incident with animals on campus.

You can help!

  • If you come across an animal on campus or a trail, give it space, and please do not attempt to pet or feed it.
  • There’s no need to bring valuables to the retreat center; leaving them at home is best.

We are remote—yet easy to get to.

The Art of Living Retreat Center offers the right balance between serenity and easy access.
