The Art of Living Retreat Center is now hiring a part-time Dining/Buffet Attendant for its food services. The kitchen serves guests and staff at a Center, which is nestled on a mountain peak of stunning natural beauty in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Boone, North Carolina. Preferred Qualifications
  • Some dining/server experience is required
  • Positive attitude; upbeat and outgoing personality.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent initiative and motivation, ability to work independently to stay busy.

Responsibilities
  1. Greet guests promptly, cheerfully, and courteously.
  2. Take guest remittance as required and make every effort to ensure a high quality dining experience.
  3. Communicate guest concerns to the manager as appropriate.
  4. Clean tables, restock plates, cutlery, etc.
  5. Check levels of product in the buffet and reporting replacement needs to the kitchen management.
  6. Set-up and tear down cold and hot buffet items as assigned.
  7. Keep back dining area replenished and organized (to-go boxes, shakers, napkins, etc.).
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Art of Living Retreat Center (www.artoflivingretreatcenter.org) is hiring an Operations Executive Assistant. The Center hosts workshops and retreats that takes guests deeper into the rich experience of life.

Position Summary: This position would assist the Director of Operations in daily administrative and operational tasks. The Operations Assistant must maintain strict confidentiality with records, reports, letters, emails, telephone calls, etc.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Director of Operations on all ongoing Project Co-ordination and communications .
  • Prioritizes, organizes, coordinates, and monitors the completion of projects and/or assignments on behalf of the Director of Operations
  • Attends meetings as requested by the Director of Operations and takes minutes
  • Distributes all incoming correspondence to relevant parties
  • Responsible for distributing and maintaining Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Retreat Center.
  • When approved by the Operations Director, the Operations Assistant may assist the Retreat Operations such as Front Desk, Dining etc. during high occupancy days
  • Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems
  • Maintains Operations Director’s appointment schedule by planning and scheduling meetings, teleconferences, and travel.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Give property tours to special guests as needed
  • Support in Employee HR Tasks
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist in purchasing and documenting receipts in a timely manner
  • Coordinates logistics for certain groups, conferences and large scale events when needed.

Art of Living Retreat Center (www.artoflivingretreatcenter.org) is now hiring a Front Desk Receptionist to serve as our guests’ first point of contact and manage all aspects of their accommodation. If you have a knack for customer service and work experience in the hotel industry, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform all check-in and check-out tasks.
  2. Manage online and phone reservations.
  3. Inform customers about payment methods; including credit card data verification.
  4. Register guests—collecting contact details, reservation information, and other relevant information.
  5. Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms.
  6. Provide information about our retreat center, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
  7. Respond to guest complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  8. Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully-furnished to accommodate guests’ needs.
  9. Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized services for attendees.
  10. Maintain updated records of bookings and payments.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Hotel Front Desk Agent, Receptionist, or similar role
  • Experience with hotel reservations software
  • Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking and TripAdvisor
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays as part of a regular schedule

Art of Living Retreat Center is hiring a Front Desk Supervisor. The Front Desk Supervisor assists the Hospitality Manager in the various aspects of providing a great customer experience for our guests.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Manages front desk duties during certain shifts.
  2. Assist Hospitality Manager training and scheduling Front Desk staff.
  3. Communicate with customers when appropriate (welcome them in the facilities, address their complaints, find solutions to problems, offer information,  etc.)
  4. Assist Hospitality Manager in inspecting venues and common areas for program readiness.
  5. Assist Hospitality Manager in inspecting guest rooms for readiness and put in work orders when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Hospitality Manager, or relevant role.
  • Understanding of hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of hotel management software (PMS) is an advantage
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset.
  • Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and a great attention to detail.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Hotel/Hospitality Management or relevant field.

The Art of Living Retreat Center is hiring a full-time Lead Cook to work side-by-side with our Executive Chef. This position is based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Boone, North Carolina.  Ideal candidate will have experience with vegetarian food and buffet or catering style. 

On-site lodging and meals are available if desired. 

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and produce food to the highest quality for all three meal periods.
  2. Adhere to all polices set forth by the Executive Chef.
  3. Maintain a positive, teamwork attitude.
  4. Ensure that the food is on the buffet  and properly garnished 10 minutes prior to opening.
  5. Assist with running food and ensuring that the buffet is properly stocked at all times to include the salad bar for lunch and dinner, and dried fruits and nuts during breakfast.
  6. Ensure the kitchen is always clean and sanitized.
  7. Taste all food that is being cooked and prepped to ensure it is properly seasoned.
  8. Assist with menu planning.
  9. Assist in the creation of new menu items.
  10. Work with a high sense of urgency.
  11. Communicate with the guests to ensure their satisfaction prior to leaving.
  12. Order produce and keep the produce cooler organized and inventoried on a daily basis. Assist with keep all coolers and storerooms organized, clean, and clear of all debris.
  13. Assist in putting away all deliveries in a timely manner.
  14. Communicate any mechanical issues to the Sous or Executive Chef in a timely manner.
  15. Use all equipment properly and with caution.
  16. Communicate any personnel issues to the Sous or Executive Chef in a timely manner.

The Art of Living Retreat Center is now hiring a Reservations Agent. This position is based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Boone, North Carolina. The Reservations Agent sets the tone for our guests pre-arrival and must make an immediate connection and provide personalized customer service and responsiveness. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our Center and helping others to discover all we offer. 

Responsibilities

  • Process guest bookings for room accommodations, and retreat programs, as well as handle other unique and sometimes complicated special arrangements via email and the phone.
  • Build a positive rapport that lasts beyond just the first call with guests inquiring about our services and activities.
  • Consult with new and returning guests to design exclusive and customized retreat packages.
  • Capture sales from the incoming calls and coordinate details of each reservation to ensure the guest’s satisfaction.
