Opened in 2012, The Art of Living Retreat Center is the newest outgrowth of the Art of Living Foundation’s 40+ year global commitment to health, happiness, and Ayurveda.

Nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the Center offers immersive wellness experiences inspired by authentic traditions of yoga and Ayurveda. From signature workshops in the life-transforming power of breath and meditation to cleanses that have been practiced for thousands of years, the experiences at the center and its Shankara Ayurveda Wellness provide timeless tools that help guests tap into their potential for lasting health and happiness.

The community is built around a spiritual and wellness focus. While this is not necessary in an applicant’s background, you should be able to deeply understand and appreciate this approach to life. Open Positions

Dining

Three times a day, 365 days a year, we prepare whole-foods meals with the freshest seasonal ingredients we can find. Our priority is to provide our guests with vegetarian nourishment designed to energize and nourish all body types in a stellar dining experience. Meals are served buffet-style.

We are looking for a hard-working prep cook to be responsible for setting up workstations in the kitchen and preparing ingredients for the cooking process. The prep cook is required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations.
  • Following prep lists created by chefs.
  • Measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process.
  • Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads.
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
  • Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some kitchen experience is preferred, but not required
  • Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Mental and emotional stability
  • Outstanding people skills; comfortable interacting with all diverse populations

The Art of Living Retreat Center is now hiring a part-time Dining/Buffet Attendant for its food services. This is a vegan/vegetarian concept restaurant so although you don’t have to have vast experience with cooking with plant-based food you do need to be excited about this

Requirements

  • Some dining/server experience is required
  • Positive attitude; upbeat, friendly and outgoing personality; passionate about people
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent initiative and motivation, ability to work independently to stay busy.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly, cheerfully, and courteously.
  • Take guest remittance as required and make every effort to ensure a high-quality dining experience.
  • Communicate guest concerns to the manager as appropriate.
  • Clean tables, restock plates, cutlery, etc.
  • Check levels of product in the buffet and report replacement needs to the kitchen management.
  • Set up and tear down cold and hot buffet items as assigned.
  • Keep back dining area replenished and organized (to-go boxes, shakers, napkins, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for washing dishes, pots, and pans during prep periods and service, as well as performing any kitchen prep as directed by the supervisor. May also put away deliveries and organize storage.

Operations

We’re looking for Shuttle Drivers to help our guests navigate their way around our property so they can focus on their retreat. If you like to meet new people and you enjoy driving, this opportunity may be for you.

Sales & Marketing

The Director of Outreach and Partnership Development will be responsible for the exploration and development of new strategic partnerships with key businesses and organizations to drive growth for our signature retreats. By developing relationships with aligned organizations and partners, the Director will grow our guest community and overall organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work within a mission-driven organization and help strengthen the bottom line through the development of strategic partnerships and outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Open doors, establish relationships, and build a vibrant community of partners (wellness-based organizations, corporates, associations, etc.) seeking holistic wellness-based solutions for their associates.
  • Lead potential partner due diligence to determine value and readiness.
  • Lead partner negotiations and develop affiliate relationships.
  • Nurture prospective partners and seek new partners with an ambitious mentality via email, phone, and networking.
  • Develop necessary programs and materials; come up with creative ways to engage our partners.
  • Ensure optimal performance by crafting processes to be efficient and consistent, building a culture of accountability to deliver high-quality work, and passionately advocating for ways to maximize value from the portfolio of partner and vendor relationships.
  • Manage a portfolio of partners; deepening relationships to maximize engagement with AOLRC.
  • Help develop systems/processes to create efficient partner communication and engagement; maintain timely communication with partners.
  • Track activity and report results via CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Help organize site visits for cultivating new partner relationships.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional work experience; 7+ years of experience in business development or partnerships
  • 4+ years spent leading partnerships in a corporate setting
  • Flexibility to travel 20%, as required
  • Advanced degree (MBA or similar degree)
  • A strong background in business intelligence and B2B sales and a track record for meeting revenue and expense objectives is a must
  • Solid analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of marketing, partnerships, and business development
  • Ability to develop engaging and innovative ways to develop partnerships with wellness-based organizations or companies seeking holistic wellness-based solutions
  • An understanding of yoga- and meditation–based holistic programs and their benefits
  • Ideally located within a 6-hour driving distance from Art of Living Retreat Center near a major city (Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and lead strategic initiatives and follow through to completion
  • Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • A high degree of self–motivation and direction, coupled with a proven track record of collaborative work and success in sales and/or relationship management
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a passion for execution, innovation, and business development
