Have you been thinking there’s just no way that you can meditate? Is going to a retreat a little out of your comfort zone?

 

Join Denise Lyon on this introduction to meditation and mindfulness — designed for those who are new to the retreat experience or who would like a refresher in order to jumpstart their practice.

 

With a grounded, secular and light-hearted approach, you will discover the fundamentals of meditation and experience a number of different meditation methodologies to help you develop a practice that works for you.

 

Through lecture, discussion and guided meditation, you will:

 

  • Discover the what, how and why of meditation, including the brain science behind how it works
  • Practice meditation rooted in several different approaches, including mindfulness; gratitude; heart-centered breath and walking meditation
  • Be encouraged to share experiences in group discussion and Q&A sessions

 

You will return home with a solid knowledge of how to meditate and accompanying material to support you; and you’ll be equipped to bring the practice of mindfulness into your daily life for more joy and peace.

 

Open to all; perfect for beginners.

 

CE Credits may be available for massage and bodywork therapists.

Denise is a mind and body healer, a soul-centered seeker and believes that to create a peaceful and happy world, we start with creating our own peace and happiness. Meditation is the single best practice that she has found to achieve that. Denise became a meditation teacher because she wants to help you find this for yourself.

Denise is a dedicated meditator, a Certified Meditation & Mindfulness Instructor and a graduate of McLean Meditation Institute in Sedona AZ. She began meditating over ten years ago and it has made all the difference in her life. She has been honored to have many wonderful teachers, including her primary teacher the revered Theravada Buddhist monk, teacher and author of “Mindfulness in Plain English”, Bhante G of the Bhavana Society.

Most importantly, Denise believes that we have the opportunity to evolve the consciousness of the human race. Her heart’s desire is to provide a path anchored in ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience to help guide us to that place of living together in peace and possibility.

Denise lives in the small town of Elkin in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. More

For room reservations & spa retreats, we have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
For all other retreats, please be sure to check the registration page specific to that retreat.

To encourage a healthy environment we ask that guest to not consume alcohol or meat in our public spaces, however guests may enjoy these items in their rooms. That being said our property is always smoke-free.

Yes, we ask that guests with food allergies simply inform us so we can communicate those needs to our chef. Typically we label potential allergens such as gluten, dairy and nuts.
